Digitization award for Tools & Equipment

Not too long ago it took several weeks, but now it can be done within just a few hours: At Tools & Equipment in Homberg, a fully digitized and automated production line for the manufacture of forming dies is now in operation, thus dramatically reducing the period from the beginning of the order through to delivery to the customer. KAMAX has now been presented with the “Industry 4.0 Award” in recognition of this digital milestone.

The ambitious project was launched in 2014 with the goal of substantially reducing delivery times, extending tool service life and thus also lowering costs. At the presentation of the award at Tools & Equipment, Jörg Steins, COO of the KAMAX Group, highlighted the importance of the project: “This reduction of the throughput time with a simultaneous extension of the service life of the tool is peerless.” Presenter of the award and jury member Wolfgang Dorst, Director Business Development at consulting company ROI made clear that practical solutions were at the heart of the decision-making process and that it was in this area that KAMAX really impressed the jury.

KAMAX took its place among major multinationals like BMW and Siemens, which received the “Industry 4.0 Award” in other categories. “To stand beside two such renowned companies shows how successful we were and how proud the entire project team can rightfully be of this award”, said Dr. Rolf Hengstenberg, CEO of the KAMAX Group. Tools Managing Director Hilmar Gensert was also full of praise for his team for the consistent work: “We faced a broad range of obstacles over the course of the project period, but we always believed in ourselves and managed to overcome them together.”
