The ideal candidate possesses the ability to administer manufacturing policies and programs that maintain and improve KAMAX's competitive position. Can direct and ensure the safe manufacture of products on schedule and within quality specifications and cost objectives. Will support the development of cost objectives and the development of all manufacturing employees through positive human relation strategies and relationship building by living and promoting the KAMAX Global Values of Trust, Change, Commitment, Honesty, Respect, Collaboration, Responsibility and Satisfaction.
The Director of Operations will lead and manage all manufacturing production operations within the Lapeer Facility. Cold Heading, Thread Roll, Heat Treat, Qualifying and all Material Handling and Storage for the respective departments.
Responsibilities
- Direct the manufacture of company products consistent with the established specifications and corporate objectives.
- Ensure prompt and economical delivery of materials/supplies and finished goods to customers, both internal and external.
- Drive accountability and improvement to Safety – Quality – Performance – Delivery and Associate Involvement
- Conduct daily efficiency meetings for Manufacturing. Help develop, implement, monitor and improve operational KPI & Metrics to support Plant and Regional KPI & Metrics
- Support company initiatives such as IATF, ISO14001, P-PIP, CIC, PM, TPM, Process documentation, Variation Reduction, etc., in areas of accountability.
- Interface globally with other KAMAX divisions in order to adopt “best practices.”
- Support cost reduction through a systematic approach to identify and eliminate waste with continuous improvement in all processes and products provided by KAMAX.
- Support the development of all manufacturing employees through positive human relation strategies, which uphold and reinforce the KAMAX mission statement.
- Ensure the application of sound management practices within area of accountability. These include: standardized process, communication flow through out Manufacturing, documented standard work for all groups, and an audit process of effectiveness.
- Communicate with all departments in establishing areas of responsibility and to share timely, accurate, cost effective information. Develop communication guidelines.
- Train and develop operational management, supervisors, team leaders and employees in lean manufacturing practices and company policies, programs and procedures.
- Contribute performance management input to operation department managers.
- Ensure fair and consistent administration of all employment policies, rules, and practices. Promote the treatment of all Associates with dignity and respect.
- Support budget development for area(s) of responsibility and adherence to approved budgets.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or discipline in related field, preferred
- 10 years of management experience in a manufacturing or materials setting; with solid record of advancement to higher levels of responsibilty and proven track record of performance.
- Lean manufacturing and modern production management knowledge
- Well-developed leadership organization and interpersonal skills required.
- Physically able to lift 30 pounds.
- Good communication skills with all levels of employees, customers and vendors – both verbal and written
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP preferred.
